Will the PS4 smash the eighth generation?When the PlayStation 4 was announced in February, I was underwhelmed. I didn't like the social networking features or the stupid Share button. Or the touchpads. Watch, like some folks are saying, that'll go the way of Sixaxis - put into every launch game, then slowly phased out to become the occasional (if sometimes useful) gimmick for mid- to late-gen.
Then Sony started telling us more. How the PS4 was built around what developers wanted. How the PS4's new architecture will make programming significantly easier. How all the extra stuff, from Netflix to Hulu to social networking, is taking a backseat to gaming. How the PS4 can handle 4K resolution (now the standard of digital cinema, plus a brand-new technology now available in a $15,000 flat panel TV that's truly impressive in person). Advice for Artists on TumblrI'm a very regular Tumblr user and I always check if artists here have a Tumblr where they share their work.
So here's a list of advices that you might want to follow when you use Tumblr to share your art:
1. Make a blog exclusively for your work.
I don't care what you think: if you join tumblr you are going to find amazing things that you will want to reblog. So make a blog for your work and another one for your fandoms or inspirations (you can have all the blogs you want, maybe create the account with a blog for inspiration where you can follow others and then create the blog just for your art). It's a bit disappointing to follow an artist on tumblr and see everything except their work or having to go through a million posts before you find the exact thing you wanted to reblog.
2. Use the tags!
That's how Tumblr works. Make your art known, use the tags. But don't go crazy on them. The tags that are more important are the first 5 so use main descriptive tags like Port

I tried a different PP link and it worked just fine.
We probably have to relocate. As soon as I can get you to agree on that, we're also going to have to stop visiting the other one for a while, so it can fix itself. It seems like every time we check, PiratePad has to work even harder. This may not be the case, but no harm done in not going on an old one if there's a new one. We can agree on a new date to check it in the future.
So... Are all of you in favor of having a temporarty PP to use in place of our usual broken one?

I do not want news in my msg center!

I don't know who is the genius behind this idea, but the only thing that this adds to my dA experience is cluttering my message center more and more.
I don't need to have all the news articles submitted by my all the people on my watch list appear in my message center! at least i should have the option to disable this if i wanted to!

Journals and news articles are separate things, this will not only be a great discomfort for people with a large number of deviants on thier watch list but will also add an extra load to the servers.

I don't like this idea and i don't like the fact that its been forced on me without even the option to disable it.

Hmmm, I like the idea of having news in my msg centre since I wouldn't check them, or even know about them otherwise, but I agree that it should be optional.

I don't see why the option to enable journals & news articles should not be separated, expect that the programmer doesn't know how to do it yet

I agree, I don't like it at all.
I already get the news come to me. Its a pain in the arse getting spammed by more news. I have "kids" who I watch ( great artists don't get me wrong

) Who although very talented artists. Ted to write stupid news articles all the time. So I'm getting shit loads of stupid news things which I don't want. There is already a big problem with Lagg on DA for a lot of people. Wouldn't adding more things to message center just add to the problem.
If there a way to untick it or something ( like journals polls dev's etc ) then it would be fine. But not having a choice in the matter..

some aspects I like about it, soem I don't. I often forget to check news articles which I do want to keep up with, so assuming that friends of mine woudl have similar interests, hopefully anything in my inbox would be something of interest...Then again, sometimes not. Having a disable feature is a good idea though

I'm with you about having this feature set as optional rather than forced. Sometimes I've only got five minute to check stuff and I don't want to waste time getting rid of news articles and hot topics. Most of the time I don't read them and don't really give a rat's ass about what they contain.

Personally, I don't mind it. However, that comes from someone who really supports this news system.

I can see where it would be useful to have an option to disable it, although it wouldn't be something I'd use personally.

By the way, did you realise you posted this three times?

I agree that there should be some way of disabling it without having to disable journals all together, but I think we should see how this all plays out. I currently watch a lot of people (600 maybe?) and I've only received one notification every 12 hours or so. I just hope that people don't use this as a form of communication between them and their watchers, and use the news system for what it's supposed to be used for.

Unlike this post... which I believe needs to be in your journal or in the complaints forum.
